No Ordinary Christmas Morning

This post is a little bit old, but I have to share it. We were all excited for Christmas 2009. I was especially excited because it was going to be, just the four of us. My family would arrive later that day, but the four of us would open presents together in the morning, to see what Santa brought.

So, on Christmas Eve, I was up late, putting the finishing touches on a few things, as Santa's helper. Well, when I realized it was 11:30, I figured I would go to midnight mass alone, so that I at least had some spirtual time to myself. Midnight mass was lovely and it always a favorite holiday tradition of mine and I can't wait to share it with Jax and B.

Anyway, when I got back, I decided I would sleep on the couch, so that I wouldn't wake Jeremy up. I'm finally sound asleep (no small accomplishment for me), and Jeremy appears before me at 2:30 in the morning saying "Your daughter is crying!" See, when she's crying she's my daughter, but when she's happy and cheerful she's his, I guess??

So, I go upstairs, check on her (she's okay), and decide to go into my bedroom to go to sleep. So, I go in, close the door and fall asleep. Well, at 6:30 in the morning, I'm woken up. Not by an excited 4 year old ready to see what Santa brought, but by a 33 year old man, stating "we're locked in our bedroom, we can't get out!" My response, "we'll figure it out at 8am, just go back to sleep". But, that is not how my husband operates. So, rather than waiting a little while and then calling neighbors to help us, (see the lock was old and got very stuck, and I wasn't supposed to close the door, but at 2:30 in the morning, I wasn't thinking about it.)

My dear husband took it upon himself, to climb out our bathroom window and into another open window on our home. Thankfully, he did this safely, and then later that morning he was able to open the door to get me out. Unfortunately, Jackson didn't come running into our room to wake us up, but we did all go down to see what Santa brought together. Jackson patiently waited until I was freed and then we were all surprised.

But, the highlight of the morning was when Jackson said to me "Mommy, I heard Santa on the roof!" Yes, you did sweetheart, yes you did!
